Chief Jordan

Fire Chief Miford Jordan

Fire Chief Miford Jordan began his impressive career with Montgomery Fire/Rescue in 1985.  He quickly progressed through the ranks while developing expertise as a practitioner, manager, and leader during a career that spans three decades.  Chief Jordan was appointed the capital city’s 13th fire chief in 2006.   His tenure as fire chief focuses on the highest standards of professionalism, training, superior equipment, and physical fitness in assuring that Montgomery Fire/Rescue delivers exceptional fire and emergency medical services. Under Chief Jordan's leadership and guidance, Montgomery Fire/Rescue experienced many successes in 2014.   Montgomery became the first and only department in the state of Alabama to achieve a “1” ISO rating, the highest possible rating for fire services.  Additionally, Montgomery Fire/Rescue set the world record en route to becoming the 2014 Combat Challenge World Champions.

Fire Chief Jordan is actively engaged in municipal and community service and philanthropy, setting the tone for a department that gives back to Montgomery in many ways. Through his leadership, Montgomery Fire/Rescue is the city’s largest contributor to the United Way. Additionally, each year Montgomery’s firefighters raise close to $100,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through their “Fill the Boot” drive.  In 2013, Chief Jordan received recognition from Alabama State Treasurer Young Boozer for leading the charge in helping raise more than $1 million in cumulative contributions during the past 16 years.

Fire Chief Jordan is a member of Leadership Montgomery, the Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs, and he serves on the boards of the American Red Cross and the Employees’ Retirement System of Montgomery.
