In an effort to increase transparency and engagement leading into fiscal year 2019-2020 budget process, staff will be providing detailed departmental information to Council and the community in budget work sessions from August to December 2018.
The intent of this project is to provide a detailed account of City operations, highlight departmental challenges and opportunities, and identify the key resources that are required to deliver city services.
These work sessions will begin with a broad overview of the City's expenditures, revenues, and community factors that drive operational and budgetary needs within Asheville.
Departmental presentations will follow as outlined in the schedule below.
In addition to the worksessions, the City will hold four public meetings in different Asheville regions October and November. City staff and City Council members will be available to answer questions and connect with community. Meeting schedule here.
*All work sessions will be in Council Chambers at City Hall (70 Court Plaza) at 3 p.m.
Department presentations will be linked five days prior to meeting date.
We have not yet finalized the budget. This will be voted on and approved tentatively at the Dec 16th Council meeting.
